Haptotherapie | Fysiotherapie

about Michael Ris
I graduated as a physiotherapist in 1998, but soon realized that this approach was too limited for achieving lasting improvement for clients. That’s why, in 2002, I completed the four-year training to become a haptotherapist. My curiosity and drive for deeper understanding led me to further training, including Physical Rehabilitation Trainer, NLP, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis, Breath and Relaxation Therapy and lately energy work. Combing all this experience results in lasting improvement for my clients.
Vision & mission

A
Holistic approach
Balancing your body and mind brings more energy, inner peace, and resilience. You can actively influence that balance yourself. I believe that real change only occurs when we look not only at your symptoms, but also at the interplay between your body, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.
B
Awareness
You can't change anything you don't see first. Becoming aware of your body's sensations and learning to feel more deeply is the first step toward lasting recovery. Together, we'll uncover the root cause of your symptoms, and you'll actively contribute to a new you. So you can shine again.
C
Personal
Haptotherapy isn't about the therapist "helping" and the client "receiving," but about an encounter of equals. I'm present as a person, not just as a therapist. You're actively involved and in control of your own process. Through our contact, you'll learn to better sense what's going on inside you and what you need.
Collaborations

The energetic sessions and retreats in my practice are co-led by Monique Bouwmeester of Healingworks.nl , with whom I work closely. She is a Reiki Master specializing in Tibetan and Aboriginal healing. Together, we can offer a complete package that will restore and recharge you physically, mentally, and energetically. We are both trained by Jose Antonio Manchado, among others.

Inspiration
“Your body is your best advisor in determining which course you should take.”
Ted Troost, the Netherlands' most renowned haptonomist and haptotherapy guru, wrote a book years ago titled "The Body Doesn't Lie." He guided countless top athletes, including the Dutch national team and top speed skaters, to gold medals by resetting them physically, mentally, and emotionally.
My vision of haptotherapy was shaped in part by attending his masterclasses. Whether you met him in a classroom, on a treatment table, or on the sports field, Ted Troost always managed to capture the essence of simplicity. He made people feel seen and heard and inspired them to connect with themselves and others. With his hands, heart, and words, he touched and inspired countless people. Me included.
